Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) Serbia - Hungary
This programme was approved on December 2015 and supports co-operation projects of non-profit organizations located in Serbian regions of West Bačka, North Bačka, South Bačka, North Banat, Central Banat, South Banat and Srem, and Hungarian counties Csongrád and Bács-Kiskun.
Operating under the slogan “Good Neighbours Creating Common Future”, the programme supports projects dealing with environmental risks (e.g. drought, flood, hail), road transport and use of sustainable transport modes (public transport, bicycle, water transport), cross-border tourism destinations, co-operation in culture and sport, and increasing employment potential of SMEs.
The total EU contribution to the Interreg-IPA CBC Serbia-Hungary programme is EUR 65 million. By the end of 2019, 71 projects had been funded.
Some of these are: decreasing flood and potential flood hazards of the Baja-Bezdan Canal, different activities for children with disabilities, establishing three agricultural schools for unemployed people in rural areas, elaboration of technical documentation of Subotica-Baja Railway Line, supporting sport among girls at primary schools (aged 7-15) in the border region, development of agricultural enterprises, expansion of touristic offers, etc.
