This project includes aerial vaccination of foxes against rabies, supply of equipment, considerable capacity building.
The total value of multiannual rabies eradication programme (aerial vaccination campaigns) since 2010 exceeds EUR 15 million. As a result, the number of cases of rabies in animals dwindled since the start of implementation, and no new cases were detected since 2018. Since rabies is a transboundary animal disease that can easily be spread from one territory to the other, the current IPA programme will make sure that reintroduction of rabies in Serbia is prevented for the years to come.
Four additional national aerial campaigns for oral
vaccination of foxes and other wild carnivores against rabies are expected,
worth 3.6 million euros, aiming at the eradication and combating of rabies.
