Support for the control/eradication of classical swine fever and rabies in Serbia

Summary

Rabies is a viral infection caused by viruses belonging to the Lyssavirus genus. It is a zoonosis – an animal disease that can spread to humans – transmitted by saliva through bites and scratches. The infection primarily circulates among domestic, feral, and wild animals, although all mammals are at risk. The virus attacks the Central Nervous System targeting the brain and the spinal cord, and is fatal if left untreated.

The project purpose is to support control and eradication programme of classical swine fever in domestic pigs and wild boars; control and eradication programme of rabies in fox population and reduce the risk of new cases; transpose EU legislation on control measures of CSF and Rabies into national legislation.
