Strengthening the capacity of the Internal Affairs Sector (IAS) of the Ministry of Interior

Summary

In addition to supporting fight against corruption at the national level, the EU assistance also focuses on strengthening capacities of Internal Affairs Sector to successfully combat corruption within the Ministry of Interior. The Internal Affairs Sector is authorised to control not only police officers, but all Ministry employees, conduct integrity tests, corruption risk analyses and check asset declaration/property.
Supply of IT and surveillance equipment will support the work of IAS, enable them to have a stand-alone system with all existing and future databases (property checks, corruption risk analyses, operational analytics, etc.) and create a safe environment for sensitive data.
Building police capacities required for investigations of criminal corruption related offences and strengthening the integrity and internal control mechanisms for combating corruption in the police within this project are in line with the National Strategy for the Fight against Corruption.
