"You have the right!" - the campaign to promote the free legal aid mechanism was presented in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Užice to the local media and the public from more than 50 local self-government units, to raise awareness of citizens about the possibilities provided by the Law on Free Legal Aid.
Along with the campaign, trainings for the representatives of local self-government units authorized for budgeting and approving applications for free legal aid, are also being implemented in Serbian municipalities and the cities. The Law on Free Legal Aid was adopted in 2019 with the aim of enabling every person, especially the most vulnerable citizens, access to justice and legal protection. Although the free legal aid system was established at the end of 2019, there is still poor information among citizens about the existence of the right to free legal aid and numerous weaknesses in the implementation of the law.
The campaign is jointly initiated by the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of the Republic of Serbia, with the support of the „Facility Supporting Rule of Law in Serbia“, co-financed by EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ.
