Workshops on detecting forged and fake documents held on Zlatibor and in Vrnjačka Banja

From October 29 to 31 and November 19 to 21, 2024, two workshops on detecting forged and fake identification documents were held on Zlatibor and in Vrnjačka Banja. A total of 28 representatives from the Border Police Directorate participated in the training, aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge for more effective document control within the integrated border management system.

During the workshops, participants explored a range of topics to improve their ability to identify forged and fake documents quickly and accurately. Key areas of focus included printing substrates, security inks, and printing techniques used in document forgery. Additional attention was given to document personalization techniques, defining and classifying fake documents, biometric data in identification documents, as well as profiling methods and detecting the misuse of genuine documents belonging to others.

"The workshop provided us with practical knowledge about the latest techniques used in document forgery, enabling us to identify irregularities more quickly and efficiently. By implementing what we’ve learned, I believe our capacity to detect and prevent various forms of document misuse at border crossings has significantly improved," one of the participants emphasized.

The workshops were organized as part of the "EU Support to Effective Border Management" project, funded by the European Union.
