Training on disciplinary responsibility of judges will be attended by 1,500 judges from across Serbia, with Project’s support

The Council and the Judicial Academy, supported by the Project, will organise 50 trainings on disciplinary responsibility of judges all across Serbia, with a view to having 1,500 judges from all general and special jurisdiction courts go through these trainings until the end of 2020 (55% of all the judges in Serbia). The trainings will be conducted in four regional centres – Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Niš, which are the seats of appellate courts.

The Judicial Academy made a detailed plan of trainings for the entire training period, (from September 25, 2019 until the end of 2020), and started sending invitations to the participants working at courts in due time. The trainers of these trainings, members of the Council’s disciplinary bodies, are divided into five outreach teams, which are assigned to conduct trainings in different towns and at varying times. When forming the teams, it was taken into account that the team members were paired up in a way that they come from different instances in the disciplinary proceedings (Disciplinary prosecutor / deputies, a Disciplinary Commission member and a Council member) so that the participants could hear their experience from different perspectives.

These trainings will contribute to the improvement of knowledge and greater awareness of disciplinary responsibility of judges, which is a topic that is important for the entire judiciary, judges themselves and, finally, for the citizens..

The Project will provide logistical support for the organisation of these trainings by providing meeting rooms, , hiring trainers, materials etc., as well as through designing the training programme, its curriculum and accompanying professional material.
