Third Working Meeting of the Anti-Corruption Departments of the Higher Courts and Higher Prosecutors’ Offices

At the third working meeting of the Anti-corruption departments of the Higher Courts and Higher Public Prosecutor's Offices, held on April 24 and 25, 2023 in Vrnjačka Banja, the work of the Anti-corruption departments from Belgrade, Niš, Novi Sad and Kraljevo was analyzed, as well as the challenges they are facing.

The meeting discussed issues related to the organization, competence and work of the Anti-corruption departments, current issues of implementation of the Criminal Code, the Law on Organization and Competence of State Authorities in Combating Organized Crime, Corruption and Financing of Terrorism. Guidelines have been adopted that will serve as a basis for further improvement of communication, but also as a landmark for coordinators, editorial staff and the general public, in order to achieve a higher level of communication and reporting. A special contribution to the quality of the discussion was provided by Judge Ellen Best, Vice President if the Bremen District Court, who shared experiences in the field of combating corruption, and whose participation was provided as part of the project expert support.

The third working meeting of the Special Departments for Suppression of Corruption of the Higher Courts and The Higher Public Prosecutor's Offices was organized in cooperation with the Higher Court in Kraljevo and the multi-partner project "Facility Supporting Rule of Law in Serbia", funded by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by GIZ.
