On 3 December, the Project representatives held the first meeting with the President of the Board of Ethics of the High Judicial Council (HJC BoE) and the Deputy President of the HJC BoE, to present and discuss the foreseen Project activities aimed at supporting the work of the Board of Ethics and promoting the ethics of judges.
It was agreed, in
principle, for the Project to provide support in drafting the necessary
amendments to the existing of the Board of Ethics of
the High Judicial Council with the aim of its improvement to enable the smooth
operation of this body in exercising its competencies. Also, it was agreed for
a potential series of debates on the ethics of judges to be organised in the
period from December 2021 to February 2022 on various topics, in order to
increase the awareness of judges on the respective issue, as well as on the
work of the Board of Ethics (BoE). The representatives of the Project and the Board
of Ethics agreed on the organisation of trainings for members of the BoE in
order to improve their presentation skills both in regular and digital
environment, necessary for active promotion of the work of the Board of Ethics.
