Second training for market inspectors held

Training for market inspectors on the content of regulations on energy efficiency labelling and ecodesign, market surveillance and control of the application of regulations was held from March 22 to 26 2021 online.

During the training, participants were introduced to the legal framework of the European Union that regulates the market of energy related products in the household, expectations and roles of actors in it, as well as specific regulations that are recently applied in Serbia, for each of the individual products: air conditioners, domestic ovens, electrical lamps and luminaries, heaters and water heaters, dishwashers, refrigerating appliances, tumble driers, washing machines, space heaters, solid fuel boilers, televisions and set-top boxes. The market surveillance procedure and methods for controlling were illustrated on this occasion with examples of specific products as well.

In this manner, the European Union project "EU4Energy Labelling and Ecodesign" supports the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia and enables domestic market inspection to effectively control the application of technical requirements for household appliances. As a small percentage of market inspectors in Serbia have technical education, this type of training is extremely important.

According to Goran Aksentijević, Head of the Department for Control of Conformity and Product Safety of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia, "continuous training and professional development of market inspectors is necessary, but not a sufficient condition for acquisition and application of the new legislation. It is necessary to include younger staff, with a technical education background. Also, continuous learning in this field is a must, since the regulations changing is a very 'live' process“.
