How do solar and wind parks work? Why is it good to sort waste? As of the autumn of 2020, children in Italy have been receiving answers to these questions from their teachers and experts, within the mandatory school programme starting from the preschool level of education - kindergartens. The RTS journalist also researched how the awareness on the need of environmental protection is raised among pupils in Serbia and what is the contribution of the non-governmental sector to the process. Elementary school "Vožd Karađorđe" in Leskovac has been labelled as "Eco-school" back then in 2015. This means that the school is organising education courses for pupils, parents and employees on how to adopt good habits and how to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment. The Ministry of Education says that special areas dedicated to ecology are included in the school subjects "World around Us", "Nature and Society", "Biology" and "Geography".
