EU donates 100 triage containers to Serbia for emergency care of patients

As part of the financial aid to Serbia in the battle against the Covid-19 virus, the EU has donated 100 containers for triage and emergency care for patients who are potentially infected by the virus.

These containers, which are all equipped with a bed for checkups, a table with two chairs, non-contact thermometer, smaller containers for medical and infection waste and a waste bin, are an important segment in the overall battle with the pandemic and a prevention factor because they forbid the entry of potentially infected people into the health institutions.

In cooperation with the EU Delegation and the UNOPS, the Ministry for European Integrations is continuing the acquisition of the most necessary equipment which secures an effective and safe triage of the patients, which prevents further spread of the disease in health institutions and protect the doctors and medical workers who carry the heaviest burden in the battle against COVID-19. The triage containers present a part of the overall aid packet of emergency aid for which the EU has allocated EUR 15 million, from which masks and thermometers have been provided, and in the following period we expect respirators, ventilators, monitors and other medical equipment

the Minister for European Integration and the National IPA coordinator Jadranka Joksimović, said.

The procurement and montage of 100 containers in total are part of the EU aid packet in the amount of EUR 4.9 million, which was signed on April 3rd by the head of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Sem Fabrizi, the Minister for European Integration and the National IPA coordinator Jadranka Joksimović and the head of the UNOPS in Serbia Michela Telatin. This donation is also meant for the procurement of necessary medical equipment – respirators, laboratory equipment and tests, monitors for intensive care, non-contact thermometers and protective equipment, which are arriving in Serbia during April and May.
