Subsidies for energy vulnerable households
The reduction of bills for electricity, thermal energy and gas for the
citizens of Serbia is partially subsidised through the EU support package for
Serbia to overcome the energy crisis. The EU provides grants to Serbia in
order to secure continuously lower energy prices for the most vulnerable
families. As a result, in 2023, more than 190,000 households were able to
realise the right to benefits, which is a three-fold increase on previous
results.
In practice, protected households with two members, which now pay around
3770 Serbian dinars for electricity, will pay 1721 dinars less, which is a 50
percent monthly reduction for district heating. To benefit from this energy
discount, citizens should apply to the local self-government where they live,
which will then decide on their eligibility based on the Decree on energy
vulnerable consumers.
